Johannesen Files for Re-Election

Updated: a day ago

Current Rockwall City Councilmember Trace Johannesen announces he will run for re-election Place 4 on the Rockwall City Council in the upcoming May 2 election.

“I’m honored to have served this past term on City Council and I humbly ask Rockwall citizens to entrust me with another term to continue serving the future of our city. I’m proud of what this council has accomplished, from lowering taxes again, to engaging in very transparent and respectful disagreement as we navigate through the choices which will inform Rockwall’s identity for the next fifty years. We certainly do not always agree, and I think that is a good thing."

“I’m also proud to work for such a fantastic city staff and public services. They work tirelessly to get the job done, which allows all of us to love our lives here in Rockwall. Heck, our crime is so low here that it seems like the most controversial thing we talk about is sidewalks!"

“Besides,” he continued, “who else is going to make fun of (Mayor) Jim (Pruitt) during Council meetings with (fellow council members Kevin) Fowler and (Patrick) Trowbridge? It’s a thankless job, but I’m up to the task again.”

Trace Johannesen's Continued Service

Elected to City Council in 2018, Johannesen also currently serves as Adjutant for your local Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117, partner in the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, founding member of the Chamber’s Rockwall Veterans Business Alliance (RVBA), founding member of 100 Business Leaders of Rockwall County, member of Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club and booster for RHS Walk the Line Choir.

Following the terrorist attacks in September 2001, he left his job to enlist as a fourth-generation US Marine. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the infantry and returned a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with five years total active duty. He graduated from Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Aggie Band.

Today, Johannesen leads strategy and technology consultants for Slalom - a purpose-driven consulting firm - which helps clients achieve their business outcomes so they can love their work and life. He lives in Rockwall with his wonderful wife Amy - a Rockwall County small-business owner - and children Kassidy, Joshua, Cash, Roman and Caroline.

His likes include purpose-driven people and cultures, 311, Red Dirt music, Real Texas Wine, cooking, community service and Texas A&M. Dislikes include profit motives, rude behavior in a man (he won’t tolerate it), bro country, slow drivers in the left lane, the Oxford Comma and taking himself too seriously.
